Punish vs. Discipline

Have you ever thought about what the difference is between punishing someone or disciplining them? Do you have any thoughts as to if there is even a difference (other than one sounding more harsh than the other...)?

punishment seems driven by anger... discipline driven by love. i think of the times i punish my kids out of anger. it's driven by irrationality. but when i stop, process and provide discipline it's rooted in what is best for my kids... not just to be an outlet for my anger.

punishment is HARSH, discipline is almost like constructive critism....well i would agree with the jabberfrog :)
